Hottest fundraiser yet

Lots of fiery peppers were consumed over lunch today – and lots of money for our Light the Night Walk team. We had 10 brave souls with stomachs of steel compete in the pepper eating contest.

Here’s how the rounds went down:
Round 1 Yellow Chili 100-500 (Scoville Pepper Rating)
Round 2 Poblano 1000-2000
Round 3 Anaheim 2000-2500
Round 4 Jalapeno 2500-8000
Round 5 Hot Wax 5000-9000
Round 6 Serrano 8000-22,000
Round 7 Super 40,000-50,000
Round 8 Thai 50,000-100,000
Round 9 Orange Habanero 150,000-325,000
Round 10 Red Savina Habanero 350,000 – 375,000

Terri, who hosted the contest said people started dropping like flies at rounds 8 and 9 (for Brianna, who had some out of the office sponsors in need of official results, she got through round 9 before having to call it quits).

Nick bowed out after the first pepper of round 10. For the 2nd round 10, both Anand and Kai ate a whole pepper. The third round 10 they both ate another whole pepper (that’s three times with the Red Savina Habanero!) At that point we called it a tie so we wouldn’t have to call the paramedics.
